Demon Hunter
Devourer
Playstyle
25-yard caster spec using the destructive powers of the Void. Build-and-spender playstyle: builds Fury and Soul Fragments together with Consume, spends Fury on Void Ray, and uses Soul Fragments to access the powerful Void Metamorphosis transformation (increased damage to all abilities, plus the ability to cast Collapsing Star). Can flex into a suite of melee talents such as Voidblade and The Hunt. Brand-new spec added in Midnight (not present in The War Within) — this class's first fully ranged-leaning spec.
Incredible mobility (base kit + Shift)
Season 2 Tier Set
Abyssal Doomhound's Pursuit
Harvesting 4 or more Soul Fragments with Reap has a 20% chance to cause your next Consume to be instant cast and explode in a Soulburst, dealing Cosmic damage to nearby enemies.
Soulburst generates 8 Soul Fragments and grants Moment of Craving. Reap deals 20% increased damage.
+ The Good
Incredible mobility (base kit + Shift)
Frequent high-damage Void Metamorphosis windows
Strong self-sustain/defensives (Blur) plus Chaos Brand
− The Bad
Only 25-yard range
Errors made mid-Void Metamorphosis cost far more than an average mistake, since so much damage is concentrated there
Melee-flex talents (Voidblade and others, now the meta via Void-Scarred) can put you in dangerous positions
Several of its hardest-hitting casts need you planted in place, undercutting the ranged-mobility fantasy

Hero talents
Calls down void meteors via Voidfall; more resource generation (World Killer, Celestial Echoes) and passive Haste. As of Patch 12.1, only ahead of Void-Scarred on sustained 12+ target AoE -- everywhere else it now trails.
Melee-hybrid tree (requires Voidblade/Hungering Slash/The Hunt) that amplifies Void Metamorphosis. Patch 12.1's mastery/tier-set changes flipped the meta: this is now the recommended tree for ALL content, reversing the prior Annihilator-favored read -- 'the spec plays entirely different because of it' per Wowhead.
