Warlock
Demonology
Playstyle
Ranged DPS built around summoning expendable demons — generate Soul Shards through Shadow Bolt/Demonbolt, spend them on Call Dreadstalkers and Hand of Gul'dan. 'Smooth and fast once it is running at full steam,' but has real ramp-up time, and the Apex talent system adds some damage volatility to plan around.
Strong single-target and cleave damage
Season 2 Tier Set
Damned Necrolyte's Shattered Restraints
Wild Imp damage increased by 10%. Implosion damage increased by 20%.
When their energy depletes, Wild Imps have a 20% chance to fling themselves at their target and Implode at 150% effectiveness to their main target and 125% effectiveness to other targets.
+ The Good
Strong single-target and cleave damage
Solid mobility outside cooldowns and Grimoire-based interrupt access
Class-wide utility kit (Demonic Gateway, Healthstones, Soulstone battle-rez)
Unusually strong solo/leveling performance thanks to a tanky pet and good self-healing
− The Bad
Limited spread-cleave capability
Performs best with stable rather than chaotic movement
No damage immunity in its kit
Damage outside of cooldown windows is comparatively low

Utility
Hero talents
Similar throughput to Diabolist but leans more on reacting to Demonic Core procs for its AoE. A perfectly fine pick outside of extreme min-maxing.
Passive AoE that doesn't depend on procs, plus stronger mobility and defensives (Soul-Etched Circles, Infernal Vitality). The more thematic tree for Demonology and the technically optimal pick, though the margin over Soul Harvester is thin outside of pushing the absolute limit.
