Playstyle

Fast-paced melee DPS generating Rage through Bloodthirst/Raging Blow and spending it on Rampage to trigger Enrage, which stacks damage and haste buffs on top. Decision-making is 'relatively simple compared to some classes,' but the haste stacking makes it 'one of the highest action specializations in the game' — simple to understand, demanding to execute at full speed.

A genuine "add sniper" — cleaves its normal single-target rotation easily onto extra targets

Season 2 Tier Set

Jade Warlord's Dominion

2

Raging Blow damage increased by 15% and during Recklessness, Raging Blow extends the Duration of Recklessness by 2 seconds, up to 6 seconds.

4

Bloodthirst damage increased by 10% and during Recklessness, Bloodthirst increases the critical strike bonus of Recklessness by 5%, up to 10%.

+ The Good

A genuine "add sniper" — cleaves its normal single-target rotation easily onto extra targets

Excellent on encounters with waves of short-lived adds and long chain pulls in Mythic+

Exceptional survivability from layered defensive cooldowns

Brings Battle Shout/Rallying Cry

− The Bad

Damage profile is flat and burst-light — underperforms on short, execute-timing-critical fights

Very susceptible to downtime — most Rage comes from melee abilities rather than ranged or passive sources

Melee range requirements and ability cooldowns can hurt mobility in a bad situation

Its cheat-death mechanic is gimmicky enough that it isn't really viable in most PvE content

Hero talents

Mountain Thane

Brings back Thunder Clap (unseen on Fury since Vanilla) as a Rage generator via Crashing Thunder, with Lightning Strikes and a chance to upgrade into the stronger Thunder Blast. The chaotic, high-variance option of the two.

Slayer

Sharply amplifies Execute and the returning Bladestorm, with extra mobility on Charge/Heroic Leap and the ability to interrupt/stun while channeling Bladestorm. Lighter on defensive benefits than Mountain Thane.
